As promised by the group two years ago already, German d' EDGUY are of return to Lyon in the room of the Transporter with l' occasion of the round-support of their last opus entitled The Age Of The Joker.
Beaucoup of chronicles was already written in connection with this album which made an entry very noticed in the charts in Europe… the object of the lines below will not be thus to discuss the quality of the new album but to give an account of the show presented by our German friends yesterday evening. We also had the chance to spend one moment privileged with Dirk SAUER, guitarist of the group, and the pieces selected of l' interview carried out are with being read at the end of the report live!
J' have as a practice to extend me more than of reason when which I once return account in concerts EDGUY to Lyon… n' is not habit, I will test (to test hein?) d' to go to the fact!
Between 600 and 700 people made the choice come to attend the concert in this evening d' autumn, a rather correct score if l' one considers the great number of concerts to come and the current crisis: the public must carry out choices and obviously, to see EDGUY is a priority.
I n' did not attend the services of the groups of first part to knowing KARELIA and KOTTAK because j' stays putting out of box l' interview of Dirk SAUER which you will find Ci below. I can only give an account of the mixed feelings that j' could glaner that and there. D' aucuns regretting the bad adjustment of sound of the first groups, d' others poor musical quality while in addition, l' was rented; energy and l' fill with enthusiasm released by the musicians.
In any case, this evening was the evening d' EDGUY which starts the show while remaining in l' fun spirit which characterizes them… a clownesque intro before l' inevitable " Ladies and gentlemen… welcome to the freak shoooooow! " and powerful Nobody's Hero of launching the evening. One evening marked by the great number of songs drawn from l' album Almost The Age Of The Joker. the half of the set list made up of new titles: German is trustful in the quality of their new creations. Personally, j' appreciated. D' a share because these songs contain all the elements of this qu' became EDGUY now: a group with its own identity which proposes a scientist mixes melody metal sometimes epic (Rock Of Cashel), sometimes Hard rock (Lavatory Love Machine), sometimes speed (Babylon) and finally often one mix of all ( The Arcane Guild). A set list very complete, very varied and well jokes. Musicalement the musicians have experience and are in place. Tobias SAMMET manages to overcome its demanding lines of song and the well worked choruses give even more body to a successful concert. One finds the elements which make the charm of the group: the serious one but of the fun, jokes but especially a division, a communion with a public which n' waits until l' spark to take fire. L' spark comes of course from traditional (Tears of a Mandrake, Superheroes, King Of Fools) and the Lyoneses takes again the known refrains bruyamment and breaks the voice while following Tobias and its exercises vocal!
For my part, j' appreciated the distribution of the songs giving the share of Lyon to the new album: j' saw EDGUY more d' ten time and j' with delight of the pieces that I tasted m' did not wait to see played on scene: a good surprise and a pleasant freshness for which awaited something again. Nothing of thus surprising, but a show very pro, a set list balanced and especially a pleasure of playing communicative which makes too short the two hours in concert.
a beautiful satisfaction with the final one: German never disappoints us and I think but on their side they n' were not disappointed… this n' is that logical! It is necessary to know to give to receive and our friends of Fulda are not miserly their efforts! C' is with pleasure that we will re-examine them in Lyon in their wishing good wind for the continuation of the round!

DISCUSSION WITH DIRK SAUER (Guitarist EDGUY)
It is 19:00 and Wolfgang, the turn manager d'EDGUY guides us backstage in order to meet Dirk with which we took care to take appointment for a complete maintenance.
It receives us in his cabin, quiet and accessible and evokes d' start pleasure of finding itself on the roads to play: until there, the round proceeds well for him and groups it!
INTEGRAL METAL : How do you live during the round?
DIRK SAUER: As a musician, one thus lays out of much time when I am in centre town, j' like to go to make a turn and to discover the cities. Sometimes, I do not feel d' mood then I remain just quiet. There is sometimes much d' makes an attempt but we have a brilliant team and c' is a pleasure d' to be in round.
INTEGRAL METAL: Your best concert since the beginning of the round?
D.S : There were Milan but especially Prague! C' was really l' the hottest environment over there! People were really tight and formed an impressive mass, which released from l' energy… for us as for them I think that it was a very good show. But I find that since the us beginning n' let us not have to feel sorry for us: that occurs very well everywhere!
INTEGRAL METAL: How occurs the d' preparation; a round?
D.S: There are two aspects. L' material aspect is managed well with l' advances: one thinks so that l' one can transport and set up technically. Musicalement, c' is finally easier! Everyone knows the songs by heart. It was thus necessary to set up the choruses and… c' is all! The " part is not prepared; show" … that occurs naturally. In fact, one n' required that 3 small weeks at the maximum.
INTEGRAL METAL: You play of many songs of the new album…
D.S: C' is a collegial choice but it should be said that c' is a good album and makes some, one n' put forever as many new songs in the set lists. It should be specified that we want to put long songs which we cannot play in festivals for examples. C' is l' occasion to give pleasure by playing them and to give pleasure with the public in their making discover these titles into live. What becomes difficult with the years, c' is d' to eliminate from the hits! But good, with Tears of a Mandrake, Lavatory Love Machine et King Of Fools, I think that l' balance is rather good!
INTEGRAL METAL: How you find l' environment in France and in Lyon?
D.S: That made so a long time that l' one comes here: one feels accomodated very well and c' is really fun. People are sympas: I am impatient to play!
INTEGRAL METAL: Could you compare The Age Of The Joker and Tinnitus Sanctus… l' preceding album?
D.S: I would say that Tinnitus sounded more modern, darker too. The new album is more spontaneous. C' is almost a return at the origins even if at the same time one preserved the elements which make EDGUY aujourd' today… c' to explain… there is difficult are the refrains, the melodies… Let us say that l' album Age Of The Joker n' was not programmed… it s' is written and recorded naturally what is very good sign. That n' took qu' one month for all to record, the things went quickly because all ran source. I think qu' one can feel the coherence of l' album..Tinnitus was more varied whereas The Age Of The Joker has a more obvious red wire. For us, c' is perfect. Perhaps that Rocket Ride et Tinnitus did not contain the elements which are in this new album… I think only l' one succeeded in finding l' spirit of the albums d' before by preserving our new sound… the positions in the charts show that l' album is received!
INTEGRAL METAL: To record it video of Robin Hood… c' was how?
D.S: Aaah, c' was well!! Me which n' like that at all, I must say that j' appreciated in spite of the length of turning: c' was one day long, but amusing! And s' is preferred; to amuse to make seeming d' to be serious and make the hard ones!
INTEGRAL METAL: Finally, how to locate EDGUY maintaining compared to the epic period heavy?
D.S: Eh well one is always epic heavy but one is also more hard rock, more mid tempo… In fact, I n' do not like to put labels: one makes rock'n'roll N roll what! For all to say, one created always the music that l' one wanted to play at time when that was done. After certain d' numbers; albums, it is also necessary to preserve a certain desire, an interest… d' where a logical evolution!
Of course, people complain parce qu' one does not sound any more like front, but if c' was the case, they would say qu' the same thing is always played!
