INTERVIEW – LIVE CONTINUATION - NIGHTMARE by Vyx
AS the occasion of the turn of SABATON and NIGHTMARE, that passed to Lyon, March 11 2011, Raskal and me had the big pleasure to be able to discuss with the members of NIGHTMARE.
Returns on a turn that happens rather in the good mood.
The boys of NIGHTMARE say themselves happy with the turn, they see country and went counts that it was the same influences that inspired them, such as Tony MARTIN (BLACK SABBATH). But the members of the group know to pull the better one positions and is through their memories than one discovers what for them, will remain their better ones remember scene… To The festival of Wacken of the summer 2010 was the third one appearance of the group. For the "young" of NIGHTMARE that there participated for the first time, Franck MILLELIRI and J.C. LEFEVRE were said particularly happy. Not really nostalgic of the years 80, Jo says to rediscover itself more in the NIGHTMARE current one principally because it is singer now. This new album is awaited for end of the year 2011. While awaiting this next album, the fans will be able to enjoy in front of the DVD/CD live of the concert of their 30 years. This anniversary, precise evening Yves was also the occasion to pay homage to all the former musicians of the group ( Alex HILBERT, Nicolas DE DOMINICIS, Jean STRIPPOLI and Etienne STAUFFERT).
After this big half an hour of interview, we profited from it to take some photos with the group. Always with to smile it, the boys lent themselves to the game, with generosity and enthusiasm. A big one thank you to this joyous one "7th company"!
The concert
Some minutes later, after spoiling the two first songs of the concert (interview of SABATON obliges), I rediscovered them on scene, in a room somewhat (too) smoke out… The room of the Kao was well filled and the mood already beat his full one with a Eternal Winter all as powerful one as on the album. What she was not my surprise when I heard next the first grades of music of Messenger of Faith, one of my favorite songs, sung well too rarely on scene and big leaves evening of their 30 years, in my opinion… A concert of NIGHTMARE without the tribute to DIO, Holy Diver, would not be a true concert, when one knows that Jo feels concerned by his disappearance. It is in fact DIO that did to like the sound metal to the singer of NIGHTMARE. With the album live of RAINBOW On stage, it reçut it "slap of his life". That explains certainly why Jo AMORE will be in Israel in July with the group homage to DIO, HOLY DIVERS, for the first party of GRAVE DIGGER. To finish on the concert to Lyon, NIGHTMARE offers us one (too) runs concert of a half an hour while traversing several of their albums (Cosmovision, Legions of The Rising Sun…), for a final one more powerful with Trust a Crowd. Discovery as early as the go out of the first album Fist For Fight and commented on in METAL INTEGRAL versions "paper", I had the luck to see and to meet the group at the time of the Festival " Sword Brothers " in 2005, just to the go out of Primo Victoria that will do to return definitively the Swedish group in the legend!

For this fourth concert to Lyon return had taken you with Pär (bass player) for a privileged discussion! Vyx had taken care of the members of NIGHTMARE, it belonged me to maintain me with Joakim BRODEN the charismatic singer!
Joakim received us in the "musical lodging", we kindly ridded the couch (it is true well cluttered, as the lodging besides) and even offer to drink, proof that the warrior knows to receive and put comfortable its hosts!
I had clothed my Tee Shirt statutory one (to see photos) for the occasion and this left for a half an hour of fascinated and relaxed discussion.
The turn unfolds itself very well and the public replies to the return you, this time with SABATON in poster head, Joakim recognizes that the career of the group continues in an uniform way and that the things go of better in better. The group is not again a "Méga groups" but to every album the fans faithful remainders and of others come to increase the rows. The " Fan base " is not a legend in the matter of our Swedish one. It suffices to see in the public the number of military treillis "white, gray and black" to understand that the look of the group found its followers!
AS the question of Vyx, if the group preferred the big festivals (kind Wacken) or the concerts more intimists, the response was "the two"! In fact to play in front of tens of thousands of people is the dream of any musician and it is intoxicating, but of another side to rediscover fans in rooms of 400 /600 people that come to see to play SABATON (as on this turn) is another mood, hotter and "Rock", a communion with the very appreciated public equally (the concert immediately following was a good occasion of To verify it). .
Concerning the look common one for all the members of the group, it is wanted to allow SABATON to remain before all a group, and not the placement forward of such or such member, it is also a manner to have more impact on the photos and on scène…Le groups structures itself more and more to be surrounded by professionals that manage the turns and a label that the supports, this Who leaves to the musicians the time to compose and to play!
The countries that show the more of interest to our metallic historians are Sweden, the Poland, Israel and Belgium. For Sweden it is necessary to know that the national press boycotts again the group; every important concert sees as penalty one 2/5, but Joakim themselves in entertains rather and of a certain manner is to trust to be been unaware of by the national press of his country… (A those that thinks that the success of a group can be done only if the national press is behind the group…. and well not!).
in the matter of the Poland, it is a true history of love that operated itself there is about a year! As you know it SABATON and Joakim especially are of true fascinated ones of history and aujourd’hui the compositions redraw the big moments of the conflicts, and particularly the 2nd World War. At the time of a passage of the group to Warsaw it was the occasion to impregnate itself atmosphere of this city agony, that 67 years after his liberation show aujourd’hui again on the walls of the homages to the resistant fighters having fought occupying it German (to see in the gallery photos certain clichés that I took at the time of my stay in this beautiful city in January 2010).
By knowledge, the group was thus able to return in contact with the Museum of the resistance in order to perfect what will be the video clip of Uprising ! Joakim necessarily is very honored of this idea, but for the moment the hardest one is to find temps…Mais it is evident than as fan of History I felt the very sensitive singer to such projects.
After seeing that on YouTube, the clips videos realized ones by " fans " that put pictures "of battles or of war" on their titles are legions (without word game), I worried about knowledge if there was not risks of drifts and that of the people can thus do to pass messages "terrorist or revisionist" …
Joakim is effectively conscious of this Skid type (that already took place) and at the start their label did to eliminate systematically all the videos of this type.

Here it was time to leave Joakim to prepare themselves for the concert not without the sharply to have thanked of his kindness, spontaneity and availability.
A half an hour later it entered on scene for one of the better concerts of the group since than I see them! Joakim The Lion was going to be able to roar tonight!
An excellent public, replying to the quarter of turn to the appeals of the musicians and that punctuated every end of song by " SABATON, SABATON, SABATON " that visibly touched the group. Joakim thanked throughout the concert the attitude of the fans and I can believe that this date will remain the better one to remember in France for the group.
The last album was put to the honor and every title is a true talkative happiness!
I found excellent the first party of the concert and the last party, at last I want to say that this was the titles more excessive! In the middle there were titles speed (this are not those that I prefer) and for the first time on the turn a claimed title on Facebook by the fans, the magnificent and emotional The Final Solution, that slows down necessarily the rhythm but shows a group that knows to be excellent in all the registers.
Of The lights simple and effective, a sound rather good and a good talkative mood were the more of this concert!
Joakim that launches itself the challenge to drink cul sec his canette of beer just before a quick title (respect!), a small humorous exchange between Joakim and the bass player Frédéric LECLERCQ (DRAGONFORCE, HEAVENLY, DENIED…) just before Attero Dominatus (the bass player of SABATON being dad since some days), Joakim that takes the camera of a fan and while singing it the rule in "movie camera" to film the public and Him or Joakim that offers its glasses, brief a true one frontman as I like them!
A concert to the picture of the music of the group, energetic, dynamic, powerful and mélodique!

THE after concert allowed us to cross notably Alex and Tonio (guitarist and drummer of LONEWOLF) accompanied of their girlfriends, Adrien and Loïc (guitarists of HOLY CROSS), of other members of METAL INTEGRAL (Phil KOB and Sébastien), and pals of Chambéry ! The pals of NIGHTMARE, them delivered themselves to many dedicate of their DVD / CD gone out recently, and meetings photos with of the fans !
An in any case evening well likable with two groups that all gave to the public!
